Tower Tax for Mobile Companies

Under the Authority Given by the SLGO 2001 (the local Government Ordinance aka City Government Ord.) Town Municipal authority of Liaquatabad Town in Karachi has imposed a TAX of PKR 70,000 Per Year Per Tower on Cellular infrastructure erected by the Cellular companies.

This decision was taken to increase the Income for Town Administration which will be used for the maintenance work.

I am not too sure if this is the first town to implement this but approximately there are 20,000 towers (including other than cellular towers) across the country. If we make 70 K a bench mark it will generate at least 116 Million PKR a month or its just my usual bad maths.

If this revenue honestly invests in the development of City, then it will be a good step. Hope .. k
